Step back in time and explore Sweden’s ancient capitalsSigtuna and Uppsala — two historic towns that have preserved their unique character and charm.

Leaving Stockholm behind, you will enjoy views of the Swedish countryside and get a glimpse of everyday life outside the capital. After a scenic 45-kilometer drive, you will arrive in Sigtuna, the oldest town in Sweden, founded in the 10th century. Situated on the shores of Lake Mälaren, Sigtuna is perfect for a relaxed stroll. Narrow streets, colorful wooden houses, small shops, and cozy cafés create a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.

Here you will see Sweden’s oldest and smallest Town Hall, examine ancient Viking runestones, and have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional fika in one of the country’s oldest cafés. With its small scale and historic setting, Sigtuna feels like a step back in time

After the quiet elegance of Sigtuna, the tour continues to Uppsala, Sweden’s historic spiritual and cultural center. The visit begins in Old Uppsala, where impressive burial mounds, often called the “Swedish pyramids”, rise above the landscape. These ancient royal graves are surrounded by legends and lend the area a distinctly mystical atmosphere

In modern Uppsala, the city reveals its more grand and ceremonial side. You will visit Uppsala Cathedral, the largest cathedral in Scandinavia, dating back to the 13th century. It is the burial place of Swedish monarchs and prominent figures, including Carl Linnaeus, the renowned botanist and founder of modern biological classification.

You will also see Uppsala University, the oldest university in Scandinavia, visit its historic Gustavianum Museum, stroll through the famous Linnaeus Gardens, where hundreds of plant species are still cultivated, and explore Uppsala Castle, built in the 16th century and closely connected to key events in Swedish history.

At the end of the tour, you can relax in a riverside park or enjoy traditional Swedish cuisine at one of Uppsala’s authentic local restaurants.

This excursion offers a journey into the heart of Swedish history, where Viking heritage meets medieval grandeur. It is a chance to experience the spirit of ancient cities that remain deeply significant and full of character to this day.
