Norway's West Cape: From Selje to a fishing village
On this day you will have the chance to see the picturesque sites of Norway's West Cape.
You will head to the Selje isle, known for its white sandy beaches and the historic ruins of St Sunniva monastery. When you embark the island of Selja, it is like travelling back in time. Our guides will tell the exiting story about the legend of St. Sunniva and the Selja Monastery.
Next, ascend the steep mountain serpentine to the West Cape plateau, the westernmost point of mainland Norway. From here, you will enjoy stunning panoramic views in all directions, including scenic mountain lakes, the sea coast, and cliffs.
In the afternoon, visit Bremanger isle and the fishing village of Kalvåg, where you can savor seafood dishes at a first-class seafood restaurant. Bremanger is a hidden gem, off the beaten path. It is also called ‘Little Lofoten’ and that is not hard to understand. Here you can enjoy untouched nature, without meeting herds of other tourists.
Optionally, we can also offer walks around the area with a climb to the lighthouse or a short fishing trip (catching sea fish or hauling in lobster and crab nets).
Tour duration: approx. 5-6 hours (68 km, approx. 2.5 h in the car).
West Cape: The mountain cliff is almost flat at the top and plunges steeply into the sea. Vestkapp is a tourist destination with flat width, steep slopes and impressive panoramic views in all directions.
Kalvåg, one of Fjord Norway's best preserved fishing villages, is situated out at the ocean’s edge on the island of Frøya in Bremanger municipality.
