Trollfjord cruise

Why this tour
  • Explore the wildlife above and below the fjord
  • Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Trollfjord
  • Breathtaking views
The name "Trollfjord" is surrounded by mysteries and legends. One of them tells that Trollfjord used to be a lake called Trollsjoen. A troll named Hinnyoi was angry at another troll's cows grazing in his fields around the lake. Running up to them with an axe, he tripped, the axe flew out and fell between the lake and the Raftsundet. Taking out the axe, he connected the lake to the strait, forming Trollfjord as we know it today. Despite the origin of the name, "Trollfjord" seems appropriate to describe the spectacular experience of entering the fjord.
We depart from Svolver in the Lofoten. Our destination is the magnificent Trollfjord. Along the way our guides will share stories and information about nature, history and local culture.

At the beginning of the Raftsundet, if conditions permit, we will launch an underwater drone to explore the underwater world of the Norwegian fjords. As we move through the strait, the views will become increasingly spectacular. This is where there is a good chance of seeing white-tailed eagles. We will pass houses with a fascinating Norwegian history that our guides will tell us about.

The Trollfjord has long been one of the main attractions of the Lofoten. Mountains over 1000 metres high rise on the sides of the fjord, going straight into the depths of the fjord. Once you pass through the narrow 1 kilometre gap, you will find yourself at the dead end of the Trollfjord, surrounded by lush greenery.

At Trollfjord you can join our outdoor guide. He will lead the tour without a microphone to keep it quiet and peaceful. In this eagle's paradise, keep an eye out for birds in the sky. Our guides will talk about the nature, history, wildlife and trolls of Trollfjorden. We will also pass a waterfall before travelling back to Svolver. On the way back, our cafe will be open for lunch.
Sights
As we sail, we will pass the Fiskerkona (Fisherman's Wife) statue, which has been waving goodbye and welcoming the fishermen of the Lofoten Islands for decades.
