Discover Denmark beyond Copenhagen — a land of castles and kings, historic parks, and shaded alleys. Just forty minutes north of the capital, on the island of Zealand, lie some of the country’s most magnificent palaces and castles — true masterpieces of Danish architecture. This journey immerses you in an atmosphere of royal splendor and reveals fascinating chapters of Denmark’s history.

You will travel along the picturesque Marguerite Route (Daisy Route), following the coastline past elegant seaside villas and carefully maintained gardens. It’s no coincidence this area is known as the Danish Riviera.

Your journey begins at Kronborg Castle, with its formidable walls and powerful bastions offering breathtaking views of the Øresund Strait and the Swedish coast beyond. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kronborg is world-famous as the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, where the Danish prince is said to have lived.

If you wish, you may explore the royal chambers, grand halls, underground casemates, and chapel. Your guide will share the many legends of the castle and explain why Shakespeare chose Kronborg as the home of his tragic hero.

Next, you will visit Fredensborg Palace, an elegant royal residence still used today for important royal family celebrations. You’ll admire the palace’s harmonious architecture and stroll through its magnificent park, where history, landscape design, and sculpture come together in a unified cultural space.

The final highlight of the day is Frederiksborg Palace, Denmark’s most lavish castle, often called the "Danish Versailles". Rising majestically from islands in the middle of a lake, it impresses with its grandeur and beauty. Today the palace houses the Museum of National History, whose richly decorated halls present centuries of Danish history. Paintings, tapestries, furniture, and decorative arts create a vivid panorama of the nation’s past.

The Frederiksborg Gardens are among the finest examples of French formal garden design in Scandinavia. Terraces, fountains, sculptures, and perfectly trimmed alleys delight with their elegance and balance. A walk through this magnificent park provides a fitting conclusion to a memorable day.
