The majesty of the Norwegian Fjords: From Olden to Geiranger
Book
price per group 1185 EUR
Disembarking from the ship in the fjord-side town of Olden by the mountain lake Oldevatnet, you will begin your journey through the land of picturesque mountain lakes and fjords formed by melting glaciers during the Ice Age.
First, you will visit the village of Loen by Lake Lovatnet and travel through a picturesque valley leading to the Briksdalsbreen Glacier. In Briksdal you will buy a ticket with one of the “Troll Cars”, which will take you to the glacier along a scenic road and a bridge over a glacial waterfall. After a stop and rest at the glacier, you will return by Troll Car.
We recommend taking the Loen Skylift cable car to the top of Mount Hoven, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the fjord, mountain lakes and glaciers. At the top there is a modern panoramic restaurant where you can have a bite and a cup of coffee.
Then you will drive along Lake Hornindalsvatnet, the deepest lake in Europe, and take a cruise on the famous Geirangerfjord, listed as one of the world's most beautiful fjords on the UNESCO World Heritage List. From the ship’s deck you will admire “the Seven Sisters” and “the Suitor” waterfalls and see dairy farms on the emerald shores of the fjord.
Upon arrival in Geiranger you will be treated to a series of scenic viewpoints over the fjord, including the Eagle Road, Flydalsjuvet and Dalsnibba, the last of which has snow that doesn't melt even in summer! The bravest can take a short walk along the SkyWalk trail at the edge of the cliff.
Return to Olden via the scenic mountain road, driving along the Gamle Strynefjellsvegen.
