Malangen Resort is situated in the heart of Northern Norway, just a one-hour drive south of Tromsø.
1. Hotel rooms
Stay in one of the 10 comfortable hotel rooms at Malangen Resort. You will be within easy reach of all the facilities in the main building of the resort. Whether you choose a standard or premium room, you will get a wonderful view of the fjord.

2. Rorbu / Fishermen’s Cabins
Malangen Resort has a wide variety of cabins. All cabins have sea views, while some are situated on the waterfront. Our cabins feature a living room, kitchen, bathroom and two or three bedrooms. If you want more space, a larger or second bathroom and perhaps a sauna, we recommend booking a premium cabin.

3. Waterfront Apartment
Malangen Resort has 20 apartments in a nice, red building right by the sea. You will wake up to the sound of lapping waves. The apartments have two separate bedrooms, which make them ideal for small families or couples. Each apartment sleeps up to four guests.

4. Motorhome, tent or boat
If you arrive via the sea route, you are welcome to dock at our guest marina. Please call us in advance to clarify available space. If you are travelling by motorhome, you can book a site at the resort’s motorhome park. You are welcome to sleep in your tent or hammock at Camp Nikka on the shore of Lake Nikkavannet if you dream of a night under the stars or the Midnight Sun.
You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant or on the pier terrace – all summer long.
How to get there
Nearest airport:
You can get to the resort by car, bus and boat. With an international airport in Tromsø – and another in Bardufoss equally close – our resort is centrally located in a beautiful and undisturbed fjord landscape.
Malangen Resort is offering you 2 transfers services to reach us:
  1. A Shuttle Bus Service to Malangen Resort from Tromsø City Center and Tromsø Airport operates at fixed times from 16 November to 31 March (Early/late transport: Ticket: NOK 990,- per person; Daytime transport: Tickets: NOK 550 per person).
  2. A Flexi Shuttle Bus operates transfers to/from Tromsø from 1 April to 15 November (Adult NOK 595 / Child NOK 357).

By car:
Many of our guests arrive by rental car. You can rent a car at Tromsø Airport.

Taxi:
It’s also possible to take a taxi from Tromsø to Malangen Resort.
The fare is from NOK 2000 for 1-4 people. However, the fare varies depending on the day of the week/time of day.

In summer you can enjoy water sports activities and the Midnight Sun, while in winter you can experience the Northern Lights and take part in winter activities such as dog sledding and visiting our Northern Lights Camp. You can also relax in our Arctic Spa or enjoy a delicious dinner at our Marmælen Restaurant.

Malangen Resort is an ideal venue for small and large events ranging from weddings and conferences to birthday celebrations and board meetings. We have our own event planner who can tailor events to suit the customer’s needs and wishes.

    • Lobby
    Make yourself comfortable in the lobby lounge, which has a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful views of the sea and mountains. This is a great place to relax and enjoy a nice drink or light meal. This is a perfect place to start the day after a good breakfast as well as a great place to meet before and after dinner.
    There is a small kiosk in the Lobby as well as an outlet for some local businesses and artists.

    • Naustet Pub – north Norwegian coastal culture in a nutshell
    Naustet Pub at Malangen Resort is inspired by a typical Norwegian boathouse. It’s situated in a secluded part of the hotel building and has a wonderful atmosphere. Naustet Pub has a vintage interior that oozes romantic north Norwegian coastal culture and nostalgia. Naustet Pub leads into a spacious room with seating, a pool table and access to the terrace.
    Naustet Pub may be rented in connection with courses, conferences and events or for dinners and parties.

    • Malangen Resort – Wilderness Camp
    Our Wilderness Camp has an idyllic setting on the shores of Lake Nikkavannet, just a 20-minute walk from the resort. This sheltered place is perfect for events, relaxing around the campfire or as a starting point for activities – all year round. Hosting events here adds a unique nature-based setting.

    One of the largest pier terraces in Northern Norway is situated right outside the hotel building as close to the sea as you can get.

    You can enjoy a rare panoramic view in the warmth of our glass-fronted sauna facing the fjord. This is truly a sauna experience that is out of the oridinary. For those wishing to get even closer to nature, we recommend our hot tub on the quayside. You may be lucky enough to see the majestic Northern Lights dance across the sky while you relax in the hot tub.
    Adventurous guests can walk down the stairs to the fjord and take an ice bath. This experience is rewarded with an “Arctic swimmer” certificate.
    IMPORTANT NOTE
    Wearing a swim suite in the arctic spa area is mandatory.

    • We want our guests to experience the best local and authentic food. To achieve this, the menu at Malangen Resort is inspired by the traditional north Norwegian cuisine. To ensure we serve our guests food that is as fresh as possible, we prioritise using locally sourced ingredients and products in all our dishes.

    Given our proximity to the sea, many of our dishes are sourced from nearby fjords, as the natives of the north have done for thousands of years. We also serve other typically north Norwegian delicacies such as reindeer and lamb from the local area.
